Pressed is a historic building that is now a coffee shop and also a bookstore. It is a vast space of 5,350 square feet that used to serve as a letter press in the 1800s. The name Pressed originates from the building's original use as a letterpress and serves as a connection to the abundance of books used as decor in the coffee shop. As a coffee shop, this over a century old building is filled with sweet aromas of freshly brewed coffee and lined with bookshelves of novels. It is a warm and inviting space illuminated by natural lighting. Natural lighting will be a main focal point in the coffee shop. The colors of greens, oranges, and neutrals allow for a cozy space while also feeling fresh and light. The nature and living plants used in the space will resemble the nature that users can see through the large open windows. There are elements of books, specifically the pages, used as decor to further emphasize the connection that novels serve in the space. Having books placed around Pressed encourages users to select a book to read while they enjoy the space and a coffee or pastry. There are spaces that allow for users to socialize as a group, but the shop also features rooms and spaces that allow for isolation for users to focus on their work when needed. This feature also allows for neurodivergent users to decide how they want their experience in the shop to be. The user group is primarily focused on adults and students while also catering to the users from the businesses and hotels located near Pressed. Overall, Pressed is an inclusive and welcoming coffee shop where users smell fresh coffee and pastries, see warm colors, touch natural and renewable materials, and hear conversations occur.
